Loved the idea of a saturday night draft. that was a lot of fun to listen to. here are my personal #1 seeds in each category (that i remember because i listened last night and i had a long day at work)
Featured player - Eddie Murphy
Weekend update- Norm McDonald (i absolutely adored him)
Impressionist- Dana Carvey (darrell hammond is probably the best impressionist in SNL history but I have such a soft spot for Dana Carvey)
Character developer- Mike Myers
Glue- Maya Rudolph
I forgot the last one but someone remind me because I HAVE OPINIONS
also, I really enjoyed the shit out of Saturday Night. I feel like the most common criticism that people have for this movie is that it's really not about anything which I hate because a movie doesn't have to be about anything as long as it makes me feel. And I did laugh a lot and feel anxious. But that's why I had beef with making Dafoe's character the foil (even though I love dafoe).....this movie really didn't need a villain because the ticking clock was the villain imo. Just making a sketch comedy against the clock is insane enough. The only other show that I know is last minute like this is South Park and when trey and matt talk about their process, i lose hair off my beard.
I think we mentioned that it was weird Mike Myers didn't get any attention...he did have a ton of recurring characters and I (at least) have fond memories of his time on the show. I think he over-saturated society with Austin Powers for a while, and that maybe held back our interest in drafting him. NOW IS THE TIME ON SPROCKETS WHEN WE DANCE!
Oh then my wild card is Will Ferrell or Bill Muray. Both of whom were great featured players but captured the true essence of wild cards like charlie from it's always sunny.
However, I'm very tempted to pick someone who wasn't a cast member but maybe my most favorite member of the 5 timers club without being a previous cast member in Christopher Walken.

Sixth category was Wild Card -- anything goes!
