This turned out to be one of my favorite Marvel series. My spouse, who isn't into the MCU in general, enjoyed it as well which I guess is what they were going for with “spotlight.” My son is taking ASL in high school so he got a kick out of that part. His teacher urged all of the students to watch.

That's awesome that it's one of your favorites! The reaction to it seemed pretty muted, and I couldn't tell if that's because people weren't fans or just no one watched it. Also good to hear that a non-MCU viewer was able to get into it. So maybe the edit worked, just not for folks like me who had seen some of the footage before. Also glad to hear the representation of ASL is working. I wanted to comment on that but then felt like my perspective is pretty limited as a hearing person who has never tried to learn ASL.

You were right about the first episode - we didn't need the stuff about Ronin/Hawkeye to be repeated. It sorta gave the impression that one should have watched the Hawkeye show, which is the opposite of Spotlight's stated purpose. Seeing her father's death and her connection to Kingpin would have been more interesting. I also wanted to see more of her family the way you described. Biscuits ruled, and I wanted to know more about Bonnie (partly because I loved that Actor's character in Rez Dogs). Tantoo Cardinal's performance as Chula was fantastic, and that was the heart of the show for me. In short, I liked the show, but your proposed edit sounds better!

Thanks! I still haven't seen Reservation Dogs, but I really want to check it out at some point.

I have to say, I've watched pretty much everything that the MCU has put out, and I have, as yet, only watched the first episode and a half of Echo. As you point out, it feels like they're saying, sort of, that this isn't a priority series. With so much to watch and keep track of, and a busy life, that says to me "I'll get to this" not "I'll binge this." Agreed on the first episode too!

Exactly! Part of the reason it took me so long to finish this review was normal life procrastination, but it was also a lack of urgency. I didn’t feel like I needed to hurry to finish/binge the series. It’ll be really interesting to see what other shows get this label.
