Hey, friends! Listened to the first hour last night and this morning during my commute and will listen to the second hour at work today.

1. I hit up Jen sometime earlier to let her know that I bought a package for NYFF. The movies that i'll be seeing are:

Anora (I'm most excited for this because I'm a Sean Baker stan since Tangerine)

The Room Next Door (this is the centerpiece movie of the festival)

Oh, Canada

A Real Pain

The Shrouds

All We Imagine as Light

Blitz (This is the closing night movie)

Pavements

Queer

I would have been able to see more movies but i used a couple of my tickets from my package so my GF can watch a couple of these with me. I also bought a couple tickets for these movies.

2. I decided against watching Nickel Boys and Emilia Perez because the times would have been difficult but doable but when you add the fact that they'll be on streaming services, i didn't want to use the tickets i got for my package or spend extra money on something when i have the streaming service.

3. I have no intention on spending 3.5 hours in a movie theater at a festival even if there is an intermission while commuting in. I don't live in NYC proper (I work in the Bronx and I live just north of the bronx) so i have to commute in. If i'm going to watch the Brutalist, i'd rather it be by my house and not drink water or fluids for a couple hours so i can be properly dehydrated when the movie is over. All jokes aside, I didn't know about the intermission and I probably would have bought a ticket for it if i knew it had one but man......that's a lot of time to spend in a movie theater with upper west siders even if they are cinephiles.

I am so excited for your NYFF line-up!!! You better report back periodically with photos and hot takes so we can live vicariously through you. Our West Coast crew is hitting up the Newport Beach Film Festival and we have tickets to see Blitz, Hard Truths, and The Piano Lesson.

And I totally hear you about The Brutalist. As excited as I am to see it, the length is going to make it tough to fit into my normal schedule. Sorry we couldn't report on the intermission in time for you to get a ticket, though.

Do you have Megalopolis plans? All four of us have tickets to the IMAX NYFF Q&A screening.

I put my name in the lottery to actually be at the NYFF IMAX screening for Megalopolis but at this point, I can safely say that I don't think I won a seat. I reserved an A-list ticket for the IMAX Q&A screening for monday night though.

I'm also waiting for the entire Montclair Film Festival lineup to be released. I usually hit that up. It's a lot more low key and intimate than the other festivals. They only announced Conclave, Unstoppable, Flow, 2073, and The Piano Lesson so far.

I'll definitely report back with some takes, info, and pics.

I am desperately hoping the Closet Truck makes its way out to L.A. What a dream!
