Oscar voting is in progress, ending on Tuesday February 27. So all of us podcasters at The Long Take Review thought it would be the perfect time to publish the full list of nominees and winners for our own awards show, The Long Take Review Awards, otherwise known as the LTRs or "Letters. We’d like these lists to serve as what the industry calls a “For Your Consideration” or FYC for Oscar voters on behalf of these films, actors, and creators. Not that we have delusions of grandeur that this will make it to any real Academy members. But you never know! In many cases, however, our winners were not even nominated in their category at the Oscars. So, in other ways, this list serves as our rebuttal to the Academy’s picks.
In preparation for an episode that came out January 20th, each of us put together a personal list of nominees for each category, and then we created a list of “consensus” nominees based on any contenders that appeared on more than one of our lists. During the show, we discussed, debated, and deliberated until we unanimously picked a winner.
Note that at the time of recording, not all of us had seen all of the films mentioned below. I, for instance, hadn’t seen All of Us Strangers or The Zone of Interest at that point. I started to think about whether or not I would have changed some of my lists, but then decided I wanted to preserve this moment in time, unspoiled. And our final winners have certainly stood the test of time.
Let us know to whom you would have given a Letter in the comments!
